General Guidelines for Accepting New Artist's Work at The Firehouse Gallery
Thank you for your interest in exhibiting your work at The Firehouse Gallery. The Firehouse has a wonderful history of providing representation to both emerging and established regional artists.
Please note that the following information should provide general guidelines for the kinds of work The Firehouse Gallery accepts for exhibition. It is by no means a complete list and the staff of The Firehouse Gallery reserves the right to make exceptions at any point.
Our season is very short and we have limited space. Therefore, we are very selective in our choices of artists. We generally review new submissions of work once a year, in late October. Work is reviewed by a team, including gallery owners and staff. Except on rare occasions, we represent only living artists. In order to meet the needs of our patrons, the majority of our artists are full time professionals with established professional credentials and formal education in their medium. On occasion there are exceptions to this principle.
The Firehouse Gallery focuses on contemporary Maine, New England, and Maritime Provinces artists and, occasionally, others who consistently capture the life and spirit of these communities in a unique, colorful and sophisticated manner. Please refer to the Gallery Artists page if you would like examples of artists we currently represent.
In general, The Firehouse Gallery does not accept digitized images or any other form of computer generated arts (including giclée prints), photography (including Polaroid transfers), or work by children under the age of 18 unless in a collaborative relationship with adult artists.
If you are interested in having your work be considered for exhibitions please submit reproduced (not original) work in the form of a digital print or photograph that is no larger than 81/2" x 11", as well as a resume outlining your credentials to: The Firehouse Gallery, PO Box 1478, Damariscotta, ME 04543. You may also send images of your work via email to info@thefirehousegallery.com.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the gallery. We would be happy to talk with you.
